AJ Bender, LLC was formed September, 2003 by two entrepreneurs who saw the need for a better and more effective means to heat PVC pipe on the jobsite. ProBEND was invented by Jerry Johnson, an electrical contractor with more than 35 years experience on jobsites.

A NEW INVENTION: According to Johnson electric benders were nothing but a hassle to deal with. They required power which was not readily available, took too long to warm-up, and were extremely slow to heat the pipe where it could be bent...which got Jerry thinking! With a family history in using propane, Johnson thought it could be a great power source to heat PVC. After some sketchwork on napkins and input from friends and family, the first prototypes were fabricated in Johnson's workshop behind his house late at night after work. It wasn't long until he recognized that he had something and was using the new propane-powered bender on jobsites to make faster, better bends - anywhere he wanted! Johnson still has the "original" (...in working condition) just in case it is ever needed!!! The rest is history...
